In plain words
- Your data is yours and lives on your phone. We never receive it.
- Keep your recovery key and backups safe. If you lose them, we can't restore your data.
- A copy in Enlock isn't a government-issued document. Carry the original where the law requires it.
- Check details the app reads automatically before you rely on them.
- Store only documents you're entitled to hold, such as your own or your family's with their consent.
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Neel Bhatt, the developer of Enlock (“we”, “us”). They cover your use of the Enlock mobile application (“the app”) and this website. By downloading, installing or using the app, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
2. Licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not:
- copy, modify, decompile, reverse engineer or create derivative works of the app, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits;
- rent, lease, sell, sublicense or otherwise redistribute the app;
- remove or alter any proprietary notices; or
- use the app to build a competing product.
3. Your content and data
Everything you add to the app, including scans, card details, notes, people and tags (“your content”), belongs to you. The app stores your content only on your device and doesn't send it to us. We have no access to it and no copy of it.
You're responsible for your device's security (including its passcode), for what you choose to share from the app, and for making and keeping backups. When you share content to another app, person or service, that recipient's terms apply.
4. Recovery key, PIN and backups
During setup the app generates a recovery key on your device. That key, and only that key, can open your encrypted backups and reset your PIN. We don't keep a copy, so we can't recover your key, your PIN or your data. If you lose your device without a backup, or lose both your PIN and recovery key, your content may be permanently lost. Store your recovery key somewhere safe and away from your phone.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use the app lawfully and only to store documents and information you're legally entitled to hold: your own, or another person's with their knowledge and consent (for example, a family member's). You must not use the app to store, alter or share forged, stolen or fraudulently obtained documents, or to commit identity theft, fraud or any other unlawful act.
6. Not an official or government-issued document
Enlock is a personal organiser. A scan or record kept in the app is a convenience copy. It's not an official, certified or government-recognised version of any document, and it isn't affiliated with or endorsed by UIDAI, the Income Tax Department, any transport authority, passport authority, bank, card network or insurer. Where the law or an authority requires an original document or an officially recognised digital version, you're responsible for providing it. Names of documents and organisations appear in the app only to describe them.
7. Automatic reading and accuracy
The app uses on-device text recognition to suggest values from your scans and to flag expiring items. These features can make mistakes. Check every value before you rely on it, for example when filling in a form or making a payment. Expiry reminders depend on the dates saved in each item and aren't a substitute for notices from the issuer.
8. Intellectual property
The app and this website, including their design, code, graphics and the Enlock name and logo, are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms don't give you any rights to our trademarks. Apple, iPhone, Face ID and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc. Other names belong to their respective owners.
9. Apple App Store terms
If you got the app from the Apple App Store, you and we acknowledge that:
- these Terms are between you and us only, not Apple, and we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content;
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app;
- if the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any). To the maximum extent the law permits, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app;
- we, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product-liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer-protection or privacy claims;
- if a third party claims the app infringes their intellectual-property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim;
- you represent that you're not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as “terrorist supporting”, and you're not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties; and
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the app and website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will prevent every loss of data.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, documents, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the app. That includes loss caused by a forgotten PIN or recovery key, a lost or damaged device, or content you chose to share. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app won't exceed the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or INR 1,000 if you paid nothing. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or any rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.
12. Termination
You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. If you materially breach these Terms, your licence ends automatically. On termination you must stop using the app. Sections 3, 4 and 6 to 14 continue to apply after termination.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts at Ahmedabad, Gujarat have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory right you have to bring proceedings where you live. We'd always rather sort things out informally first, so please contact us before starting any formal dispute.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when we add features. We'll post the new version on this page with a new effective date, and if a change is significant we'll also mention it in the app. If you keep using the app after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
